Accidents happen. Maximized Living and Wellness Center can help get you out of pain.
First, remember, nothing is more important than your health, especially when you start to lose it.
Most people have one thing on their mind: their automobile! They worry: "What about my car?" "What will I drive?" "What will happen to my insurance?" "Who is going to pay for this?" The last thing on their minds is: "Have I been damaged?"
Our concern is to give you the care you need, if you need it. If we cannot help you, we will refer you to a doctor who can.
Second, remember, once you settle your case, you may lose the right to have the insurance company pay for treatment if you need it.
A good rule of thumb is to be informed of your rights and then make a decision.
Whiplash, acceleration/deceleration injuries to the spinal column and neck are the most common, but not the only, injury from a car accident, including at fault accidents. Sprains and strains are referred to as soft tissue injuries including muscles, tendons, and ligaments.
Although, soft tissue injuries, for the most part are invisible on x-rays and often overlooked; they can cause severe debilitating pain after a car accident. Left without proper treatment the injured muscles and other soft tissues can end up causing chronic pain for months...even years following the accident.
Injured muscles heal with scar tissue in a way that leaves them weaker, less elastic, and prone to re-injury and pain. Active and passive therapies administered by your chiropractic physician help to restore muscular strength, flexibility, and normal function by correcting or "aligning" the scar tissue. This will allow the soft tissue to heal healthier with less chance of future pain and dysfunction.
| Even in minor collisions, the body is stressed! |
It is well documented that even in minor collisions, as little as five miles per hour, the body is placed under tremendous strain. Even though some vehicles show little damaged at low speeds; data indicates that injury is more common with little or no structural damage occurring to vehicles.
If you have been involved in an accident, you should make an appointment, ASAP, for a Chiropractic examination.

Sad experience has taught us that the longer you wait the more aggravated and permanent your injuries can become.
|Early treatment will help reduce the inflammation and restore proper joint function which helps reduce the long term problems associated with car accidents. Remember that the spine supports the central nervous system and any damage to it could have serious long lasting effects throughout your whole body, including internal organs. |
For some, pain and injuries are immediately obvious. Yet, many involved in a car accident may start experiencing symptoms in days or months later. After recovering from the immediate shock of the collision, you may not feel like your normal self.
A few of the factors that affect the severity of injuries can be a surprise collision, having the head turned at impact, out-of-position occupant, female gender, significantly larger (>50%) striking vehicle, advanced age, and significant pre-existing neck/back pain or headaches. There may be increasing fatigue, difficulty sleeping, memory loss, irritability, ringing in the ears, difficulty concentration, tension spasm, increasing pains, numbness and tingling, dizziness, blurred vision, headaches, and arthritis. The damage from spinal nerve stress may take months or even years to surface, not to mention post-traumatic osteoarthritis. Osteoarthritis can ruin your posture. Osteoarthritis can cause the discs in your spine to degenerate and create scarring, leading to chronic stiffness and the inability to move properly.
Or, what is worse, the body attempts to adapt and symptoms can appear anywhere from the instant the injury occurred until weeks or even months later. If left untreated, your injuries could affect you for the rest of your life.
Before seeing a lawyer, ask yourself: Am I really OK?
Pain is a Warning
Pain is an indicator that a problem exists within our body. Even soreness can indicate injuries of consequence. Without pain, our bodies could not tell us that there is an injury and that something is wrong. Most minor to moderate whiplash injuries are overlooked by the patient, the hospital, and even the patient's family medical provider due to the lack of initial pain. Several months after the injury, when the patient continues to have pain or it worsens, most people begin to realize that the injury they sustained is worse than they imagined.
Every Accident is Different
Every accident is different. We start with a complete history of the accident and your past health. Then we do a thorough exam before a diagnosis is made and treatment is begun. The Chiropractor will provide a report of findings, the complete and thorough documentation necessary for injuries sustained - even small tissue injuries that often go unnoticed until months or even years later.
If you have an attorney, we will work closely with the firm. If you need a referral to an attorney, our office can provide a list of reputable personal injury attorneys that our office has worked with in the past.
- Most medical providers are not trained in the detection of these hidden injuries...
- If you have been in an auto accident, you need a Chiropractic doctor who is trained in the biomechanics of the human body; someone who treats these injuries every day. In addition, x-rays can be taken to find out if there has been any structural damage. In our office, we evaluate auto accident victims and make any appropriate referrals to other health care providers if needed.
- Our primary responsibility is giving you the care, if you need it, and submitting the required medical reports to the insurance company so your rights are protected.
- Again -
It is important to receive immediate exam and appropriate treatment.
Whiplash injury or cervical sprain/strain may seem mild at first. But, you need to take care of it before it puts you out of work and causes more pain and medical costs.
Our staff will gladly answer questions and give you additional information.
